Entry into force of the second ERP cut for cooker hoods

The EC regulation 66/2014 of 14 January 2014, defines the ecodesign requirements for the European cooker hoodsmarket. It have been defined 3 cut off on the base of the cooker hoods efficiency and specifically consider two indicators, one representing fluid and electrical efficiency (FDE index), and another that compares the annual consumption with the market standard consumption (EEI index).

On February 2017 it came into force the second cut, while the third will take place in 2019 with more stringent requirements. Mainly the segments of low-end products will be affected such as the undercabinet hoods.

The electric motor plays a fundamental role for the FDE and EEI definition: as a result of a detailed redesign and optimization, EMC FIME has made available to its customers innovative versions of shaded pole motors (EMC FIME type K) with an efficiency greater of 50 % compared to previous versions. These motors are interchangeable with the previous ones and allow the overcome the limits required by the second and in many cases by the third ERP cut, avoiding the switch to more expensive technologies. The efficiencies guaranteed by EMC FIME shaded pole motors are unique in the market: electrical simulations and the use of innovative materials have been the focus of the redesign .

EMC FIME confirms the application of the social responsibility policy also in product development, in line with the EU guidelines in terms of emissions reduction (increasing the efficiency of their products) and environmental impact (using of appropriate materials and components).
